Weight loss for women after pregnancy can take longer that you were hoping for. I know you are in a hurry to get back to your pre-pregnancy weight but hold on. Remember, you’ve just experienced the miracle of pregnancy and birth. Take some time to marvel at the beauty of it.

During this time there are so many emotions swirling through your mind… not to mention hormones. At the same time you’re excited, happy, tired, stressed and perhaps a bit fearful of new responsibilities. The result of all these emotions is that you overeat. Women often eat for emotional reasons rather than because of physical hunger. There is a little voice inside that says “Go ahead, eat the piece of chocolate… it will make you feel better.”

After your baby is born, you’ll be healthier and have a lot more energy when you lose the pregnancy weight. Not to mention you’ll be a good role model for your child. No question, you know you want to lose the weight. You may even have talked to your doctor and left with a diet and exercise plan to follow.

Before you get started, make the decision to be good to yourself. Here are a few simple ways to get you on your way.

Get enough sleep.

Laugh as you watch a funny movie.

Invite some friends over to show off your new baby.

Go for a walk and get some fresh air.

Getting back to that little voice telling you to eat some chocolate. This voice is the voice of your subconscious mind. You’ll need to rely on willpower unless you change the beliefs in your subconscious mind. When you believe ‘chocolate will make me feel better’ you will continue to feel frustrated as you sabotage your weight loss efforts.

Once you change those beliefs, you’ll find that you are naturally choosing the habits that will support you in losing weight. Self hypnosis is a valuable tool to help you change your deeply rooted beliefs.

Here’s how: 1. Make a list of the new beliefs you want to have. An example is “I only eat when I am physically hungry.” 2. Read the list out loud many times during the day. 3. Consider making a recording and listen to it as you go about your day.
